What is the purpose of this / Do they receive Prov Colours? are they riding as a team or as individuals, how were their rides allocated?

looking forward to the renewal of this event which is a replica of sa invitation stakes day many moons ago when jocks were awarded provincial colours and they rode in them as well...I just hope that natal stages the international jockeys this year and this interprovincial comp is not just another camouflage not to host the overseas jocks ...

Over the Air, at an event like this rides are drawn so it would be "luck of the draw" anyway. It would be a chance for the EC boys to show their skills. Why differentiate because of where they live. Go look at Agrella stats and compare them with Greg Cheyne in PE. Remember Greg gets the best of Alan Greef rides.

We would welcome an event of this nature here ......

I think that this is a good idea if advertised well....................I know lots of people who will watch any sport if it supporting their province ...............and if the betting bug bites!!!!

(my 2 cents worth is I have to agree with Graeme Hawkins .............if PE stables feel it necessary to import their top 6 riders, then the locals, not recognised as good enough at home, shouldn't be competing at the top level  )

Are the colours the same as the provincial rugby colours?

In principle it is a good idea but the reality is that E Cape jocks are based where they are for a reason and Piere Strydom is the perfect example of what I am trying to say. This scenario reminds me of your rugby side the Kings. Lots of passion but sadly totally overwhelmed.

Sorry Mark but I have to disagree The jocks you believe are good enough are a very poor lot
S.Khathi and Agrella are only able to ride very heavy weights and Khathi hardly ever rides a winner.Funeka in my opinion is no better than average Naidoo so poor could not get rides in CT which is not over run with top jocks
Their have been good PE jocks but not for many years
Curling Hawken brothers maybe Venter
The reason is that that big stables always import jockeys but they also chop and change Except Greeff
