Why not run a competition called Horse Racing Owner for a day ?

Have a race named after the winning owner.

The requirements can be but not limited to:

Age: Must be between 18 & 35
Must have an active tote account.
If not having one open one and received a complimentary R50 voucher credit to the account.

On the day the owner must be given a chance to talk about the runners chances in the race.

Phum can appoint a trainer to assist the winning owner in the day.



The clan can add more suggestions.

Surely this will attract youngsters to the game or am i dreaming

I am sure the RA do something along these lines (pity about the 35 yrs ) I just missed to qualify by about 30 yrs !

Rob Faux made a statement/suggestion regarding a loyalty point incentive for tote players a few weeks back that got me thinking and I have been following up on his idea..hoping that it could become a reality in the very near future..

a similar idea was implemented under my suggestion about 6 years ago by the RA - As far as I know it is still being run. Races are named after owners and they are comped with lunch and are allowed to bring to bring a few guests. The owners are interviewed by Teletrack before their specific race and a profile of the owner is published in Computaform.

Its for those who are not owners hence the age restriction.

This is exactly what racing it's a rush was set up for, to attract new blood to racing !!!

Don't want to sound too pessimist but the elite amongst the Bee are really not into racing and owning horses.
Think of Dj's like Dj Fresh, Dj S'bu etc. These guys have been to many big race days but the bug hasn' bitten.
Now if the operators threw a musical festival at the racecourse, watch the faithful turn up in droves and party the day and night away.
Maybe it's a culture thing ?
