Have been in Melbourne for the last couple of days for Cricket World Cup business and caught the action on the TV at my hotel this arvie.

What an eye opener. The coverage is fantastic - the broadcast of the big race was actually moved off the racing channel onto one of the free to air channels with Francesca Cumani part of a panel of knowledgable people (no idea who they were).

I had absolutely no clue who the runners were or form lines etc but in five minutes I was clued up thanks to the panel's insight.

Racing here is a big deal (always knew it but didn't quite realise how big).
The race featured prominently across the various sports broadcasts and even on the the evening news.

Must add that if you lot were living here you'd be in the poor house given that there's a race every two minutes be it dogs, trotters or flat action. Madness.
