There used to be some sort of a mystery bet in KZN.

There are definitely enough products for experienced players but racing has never invested in a product specifically for acquisition purposes.
The needs of new players and the elements necessary to attract and retain interest are very different to what experienced players mostly require and are not covered by the traditional range of products.
I have no doubt that even seasoned players will derive great enjoyment and mega dividends from the format that we are looking to introduce into racing.

10 years 2 months agoI have always thought this is horse racing’s biggest killer.Sealegs wrote: 9. Takeout Issues. Again, maybe this didn’t matter when racing was the only game in town, but how with a 20 percent overall takeout does it compete with slots (a 5 to 10 percent takeout), and many table games (skill games such as blackjack and poker) which give you an even better chance at winning. When you hear from the major rebate shops, that without the rebate, even their most skilled players almost never beat the takeout, you wonder why you play the game.
Tote taking 25% of pools, bookies betting to 116%+ and much worse on places.
People don’t even know why they migrate to other forms of gambling, but it is simply a mathematical reality - money lasts longer in other forms of gambling, so off they go.
The same bookies bet to 105% on sporting events – it’s a no-brainer where you should gamble.

Shooting any 7 in craps the takeout is 3.4%. (Am I correct? True odds 5/1 vs paid odds 4/1 - I:ll need to consult my bookie
)
But hey, the cost to run racing is big. Please never give me that other virtual crap.

Rob this is exactly my point on transparency since i started on this forum. Al i ever want to know if a horse is fit and over a problem
Being told that my horse had his best ever gallop and knowing they found a wee niggle means more than being told by some 5th source that blah blah is the graft

Does it not mean that when there is any really worthwhile information that would influence a result, transparency is less likely as it eliminates the "......no one else knows..." advantage?
