I would like to like the mr system but there are times when it drives me mad. Discourse beat Night lock over 1900m by 5.75lngths and he was given 8mr points. Next time out he was beaten 5,85 by the same horse over 2000m. 11.6 lengths turn around. About what should be expected on the old formula of 1 pound =1 length over 1 mile. Are they not supposed to be giving an increase to make the next race even and not killing the poor horse? Flyfirstclass, surely on form the right line horse in a 1200m at Scottsville was given 4mr for running 2nd in a non black type handicap with the same stake as a pinnacle where he would not have been given a penalty for the 2nd! Used Pej who had not run for 2 months. It is by no means a perfect system. To weighted on a subjective decision on who the line horse is.
