Gold Circle advises that due to deteriorating weather conditions and further forecast of rain in the Durban area the added racemeeting scheduled to take place at Greyville Racecourse on Thursday, 1 May 2008, has been cancelled. The feature races, namely The Scarlet Lady and Sledgehammer have therefore been cancelled.



An Open Handicap over 1900m for a stake of R125 000 will be added to the Friday, 9 May 2008, Greyville Racemeeting. Entries for this Open Handicap will close at 11am on Friday, 2 May 2008.


The Poinsettia Stakes (Grade 3) for a stake of R150 000 which was due to be run on Thursday, 1 May 2008, will now be added to Scottsville, Sunday, 11 May 2008, race programme. NB: Current entries DO NOT STAND. Entries for this race will close at 11am on Friday, 2 May 2008, together with the minor races for this racemeeting.


NB: NRB Office will be open on Friday, 2 May 2008.


Due to the number of rain affected racemeetings and to assist trainers in the preparation of their runners for forthcoming feature races an additional racemeeting has been scheduled to take place on Friday night, 16 May 2008 at Greyville. The race programme for this additional racemeeting will follow.

this meeting added yesterday afternoon and 18 hours later it is abandoned due to a weather forecast which surely cant change much from yesterday afternoon..what if the forecast is wrong and we could have raced on thursday night

it makes a big difference to owners and trainers who are preparing horses for races to come...why not go ahead with the meeting and on thursday make a decision whether racing will go ahead not on tuesday morning..weather patterns can change and this is setting a dangerous precedent...

at the current moment moves are underway to have an owners assosiation in natal where plenty issues will be brought to gold circles attention and dealt with as other figureheads havent got the balls to address issues and also have hidden agendas...

Perhaps protecting the track for the more important meetings to come.

Pirates I'm with you there, why schedule the Thursday night meeting in the first place when you have reasonably accurate 7 day weather reports.
