Brazilian jockey murdered

From the racing post
SILVESTRE DE SOUSA has expressed his shock and sadness following the sudden death of Brazilian jockey Fausto Durso, who was involved in an apparent stabbing incident.
Durso, 39, is reported to have suffered stab wounds in an altercation outside his parents' home in Brazil.
A former champion in Macau and champion apprentice in his home country, Durso helped launch the career of fellow Brazilian rider De Sousa, who has become one of the leading jockeys in Britain.
Speaking to the Racing Post, De Sousa said: “It’s very sad news. He was one of the guys who introduced me to the racing school [in Sao Paulo]. He was there for awhile before he moved to Macau and I always followed his career.
“He was a good rider and a friendly guy. I don’t know what has happened and I never heard of him getting into any trouble.”
Durso, who also rode in Dubai, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Korea, moved to Macau in 2004 and claimed the jockeys’ title twice in 2007 and 2008.
He rode over 1,300 winners in Brazil and Macau, with one of his biggest successes coming in the 2010 Hong Kong-Macau Trophy (local Group 3) on 100-1 shot Viva Pronto.

Rode in Mauritius last year, what a nice guy! Pretty sad news, apparently stabbed by his girlfriends ex OR his ex's new boyfriend. Thats the story going round.
