ESKOM CHAOS CONTINUES

thought i would update for the people not familiar with SA .

I am in CPT at the moment. Today i was out at CAPE POINT. That is the tip of africa closest to the South pole. Bar Cape Agulas.

At 530PM load shedding Kicked in. It was the most remarkable thing i have seen in a while. The entire southern seaboard of the CAPE went dark. From NOORDHOEK,KOMMETJIE,SIMONSTOWN (the navy base had lights) ,FISHHOEK,MUIZENBERG,CLAREMONT,MICHELLS PLAIN

Pretty much the entire FALSE BAY.

for 2 and a half hours.

There are hundreds if not thousands of Restaurants in that these areas. Most we closed.

This must be a complete train wreck for them.

For what its worth at 6 PM Cape TOWN the SUN is completely gone this time of year so was partly dark until 6 and then just eerie.

Maybe the restaurants should market the candle-light dinners and gas-fire or open fire foods?
With the load-shedding likely to be around a long time, it's time to go back to pre-electric days in the 18 th century?

I went through 6 hours last week in less than a day. 2 at home 8-10 then 2 at work 10-12 and then again 6-8 at home.

This upsets your whole routine.

What do the courses do? Do they all have generators for when the electricity goes off?

Yesterday I purchased a 2 Kva (1200 watt) battery operated inverter. Generators are good, just too noisy, whereas the inverter kicks in and cuts off automatically, when the external power is restored, the batteries re-charge.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
