KZN multimedia race winners' database

Although this database has been setup to cater for owners & connections, it may also be of use to punters wishing to access info on-the-fly as an add-on form tool. You can access the database using one of the various menus or links on the Sport of Kings website, or retrieve directly by name of horse/jockey/trainer/breeder/owner as follows :

sportofkings.co.za/tags/name-goes-here
NB. separate each word by a hyphen eg
sportofkings.co.za/tags/highlands-farm-stud
sportofkings.co.za/tags/solar-star/
sportofkings.co.za/tags/c-eudey/
etc..

You can also access showcases directly by race using this URL format (date_track raceno.) eg :
sportofkings.co.za/2015-05-27_greyville7

Went and had a look see . A lot of work has gone into that site. Leon, you don't reckon data usage going to be a problem going forward (from your hosting company) ? There is a lot of multimedia and if becomes popular 30, 40 Gigs a month will become standard....

Thank you for the kind words.

Magi.. there's not really any large files on the site itself because videos and hi-res pics etc are pulled from Gold Circle and Youtube servers. The showcase pages are basically just frameworks displaying media via embedded links. The site has failed to launch as I would've liked because I couldn't raise even 1 cent to produce the exclusive content planned and proposed. I can only do so much funded by a love for horses, the rest takes money. Operators, bookies, various other potential sponsors.. no one is interested in things like a multimedia news feed from Summerveld with videos (stables/trackwork/interviews), podcasts, pics and articles etc keeping the public informed and promoting the game. Not even specifically for the 3 month winter season period covering the VDJ horses and their build up. I couldn't even raise a 'piss off and stop bothering us' reply from anyone. But then again.. I suppose getting ignored completely equates to the same. I had other plans too, like weekly videos with the vets delving into their world of diagnostics, procedures and treatments. Same with trainers and breeders etc. There's so much going on on a daily basis in the racing realm, really interesting stuff to capture even the non racing public's attention. But clearly there's no rush to bring in new customers, or even bother keeping existing ones. And horses aside, in racing there's the human aspect.. generations of racing men and women interacting and competing in a high friction high stakes environment. Reality TV dream stuff but who cares right. I speak regularly with Herman Brown Snr and he takes me back to the days before time itself. Riveting stuff like you cannot believe! Gold for racing in the hands of someone that can spell marketing, branding and publicity. There's a bottomless treasure chest of material available to promote racing to new markets as well as thrill existing fans but who the fcuk cares right.
