Is Racing Anything Like This In South Africa

Hey Everyone, I'm new here and have just taken an interest in horse racing. I used to work in the tote when I was in school manually taking down results and dividends and sticking it up on a notice board... lol

I know how to bet and understand a little on form study but my question has nothing to do with these aspects.

I was doing some research on horses and found the two videos below that has kind of put me off this whole industry.

I just wanted to know if behind the scenes this is how horses are treated and whether this occurs in SA racing.... thanks to all!
