Hollywoodbets and overseas payouts....

I am just wondering how HB come by their dividends on Asian racing. The last Trifecta in Hong Kong paid 4012 HK$'s...(something like that).... HB declare a dividend of R404..

According to XE (respected currency converter) the exchange rate is ....

1.00 ZAR = 0.626265 HKD
South African Rand ↔ Hong Kong Dollar
1 ZAR = 0.626265 HKD 1 HKD = 1.59677 ZAR
Convert again

Mid-market rates: 2015-06-14 10:22 UTC

I assume it has something to do with HK minimum bets maybe??? Confused.

So any enlightenment would be appreciated.

The Hong Kong tote use a betting unit of $10. Therefore all the payouts from the HK Tote are divided by 10 as we are using a R1 betting unit. None of the overseas dividends that are declared have anything to do with the exchange rate. The different countries use different betting units for the different bet types and thus the declared dividends are divided by the betting unit used in the particular country in order to get to a R1 bet unit.
The trifecta in race 11 paid $4041. That dividend is divided by 10 and thus the dividend declared by Hollywood is R404,10.
Hopefully that clears up any confusion.
