1. Bettingworld have a time delay on their “in running” bets of a massive 20 seconds. You try and have a bet during a rugby game and see if you can ever get on. They change the odds all the time. As a point of comparison Betfair has a 5 second delay, Black Pearl Betting 6 seconds and Betxchange 10 seconds. What a joke!
2. Bettingworld came out with their July betting 2 weeks after the official betting was announced. Every bookmaker in SA is offering ¼ odds 4 places, but not these guys. “No places until final field” they broadly proclaim on their website. Quite incredible when you consider that there are 60 entries at this stage and that only 20 can run and that this is Gold Circle, who are co-owner’s of Bettingworld, biggest race.
3. Bettingworld constantly has favourites at shorter odds that the official betting. Check out this coming Wednesday in KZN. They have the first 4 favourites all considerably under the odds. Market leaders my backside.
4. Bettingworld’s odds on overseas racing compared to the actual Betfair prices and even Interbet’s odds are a disgrace and a rip-off.
5. Bettingworld prices up normally in advance of the official betting on all centres except the Cape. Why? Is it because they are just plain clueless or that they haven’t the balls to price up early or is it just that they are the first to dive in and claim horses for themselves in order that they can then lay them at a shorter price?
When you consider that 80% of Bettingworld is owned by Gold Circle and Phumelela, then this is nothing short of a disgrace. They will tell you that this is not their doing so who is actually responsible for this farce. The answer is Managing Director Michael “smooth operator” Weare and his horrible side-kick Mark “mini-me” Robertson. Keep up the good work guys pulling the wool over the punter’s eyes, but remember that not everyone is blind.
