TRAINER K G NAIDOO FINED FOR PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 18 June 2015, Trainer K G Naidoo was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4, in that he was the Trainer of the horse COOL ANNE from which a urine specimen was taken after it had participated in and won the 8th Race at Greyville on 8 March 2015 . The specimen disclosed upon analysis the presence of Flumethasone, a prohibited substance (classified as a class 4 substance in terms of the Guidelines).

Trainer Naidoo pleaded guilty to the charge. The Inquiry Board accepted his plea and found him guilty as charged. After considering all the evidence the Board imposed a fine of R45 000.00. Mr Naidoo has the right of appeal against the sentence imposed.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 COOL ANNE is disqualified from this race and the stake monies are to be returned for re-distribution in terms of Rule 67.7.8.

....I am baffled as to why this would be found in a horse in the 1st place....it is normally used in topical formulations to treat bacterial or fungal skin infections and also used in ear drops to treat same type of infections.....can be injected and taken orally in cases of severe infections
.....why would one want to race an animal under treatment or with an infection....

And when these indiscretions happen, there is no recourse for the punters that could have had a winning ticket but for this happening...

Just looking at his stats,he's had an extremely poor season

.....I don't think that the substance would have made the horse run any faster or masked any joint or leg niggles.....but if one was aware that the animal had an infection or was being treated for an infection.....the last thing you want to do is include it in your bets...... :ohmy:
