Is the Futura bleak?

Just got back from my nephew's 21st birthday celebration, and at the function he asks me whether I had heard that Futura pulled up coughing? I see we can get 5/1 Futura, anyone heard anything? This young man does not punt horses, valid or vicious rumour?
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Cheers Neptune, there is no way they would risk FUTURA if they had doubts

Hi All,

Futura is in perfect health and the horse could not be any better.
We are only concerned about the margin of weight he has to carry in relation to the rest of the field which is going to prove a monstrous task so not much value at 4-1.

He is a sensational horse and he will run a HUGE race despite this obstacle.

From the horses mouth.

This is what a professional racing outfit should be. Give information freely and keep the public informed especially with such an important horse.
Well done team Snaith and all the best on the big day!

Racing on the coast seems to be dominated by these rumours and controversies especially with 2 horses. First it was the Queens Plate and we know who won and who runs last.
Then the Cape Met and will we run or not and one scratches and well , one wins.
Leaving aside the Rising Sun Challenge when again stories were making the rounds and the eggs were in the right basket.
Now the July and it seems that everything revolves one or two horses, with complaints about the gallops also thrown in the mix.

Sometimes more often than not, racing on the Highveld especially in their premier races can be thankful to be spared these merry-go -round proceedings. :silly:
