best thing would be to do away with the grass track and make it poly only as the grass track is finito..when u have to save the grass by getting group 1 horses on july day to canter down on the poly whats that telling you not even taking into account the july gallops farce...the grass track is closed for the normal aug sep oct this year and for the rest of the 9 mths it is hardly used anyway...do away with it

Absolute lotto now! Ridiculous since majority of the major races leading up to the July (In JHB and CT) are run on Turf. Surely this can't be? How will collateral form etc be relevant anymore as turf and Polly form differs.

At this rate they might as well run the July on the Durban Beachfront....

9 years 11 months agoif the form differs then why do they not have separate merit ratings for the two surfaces ?Brendanr wrote: Absolute lotto now! I agree there is not major discrepancies but at the highest level even a 5 pound difference either way will be costly in terms of the outcome of the biggest race on the continent. Just my opinion..

There has always been talk of Emirates Airlines sponsoring major races in the country.
However due to some " red ". tape from the operators, it doesn't seem to fit in our socks while the rest of the racing world enjoy and value the sponsorship. :silly:

They should rename the race to at least keep the July's history intact

Grass track on July day looked pathetic, with minimum racing done there how many more years before the track is restored to what is was??? unless they using weeds instead of grass to get teh track in order.
