What other horse has won a grade 1 sprint and a grade1 1600m race after winning the July?

Even if Legislate romped home today, he wouldn't come close to the best this country has seen.
Its a futile exercise stating a horse is greatest ever. There will always be a counter argument

Only can comment from the 90's onward, Flaming Rock, won the Schweppes Challenge GR1 over 1600m twice after he won the July and won the Diadem Stakes over 1200m also twice after the July but the Diadem was a GR3 at that time.

Guys you knew what I was getting at, takes a very special horse to be able to drop down from staying distances to win a grade 1 sprint , Legislate is no doubt the best all round horse in SAF

Even though he didn't win he still has to be the the best all round racehorse in training at the MOMENT, and would be capable of a g1 sprint win in many fields. Don't think he enjoyed yesterday though, hope he doesn't run in the race next week unless he really took it well. It didn't look like a prep run that brings a horse on For a big run a week later.

I think both Don Dillon and Craig Zackey will star next season. All the top yards used Dillon during the Natal season and Zackey won a Grade 1 and continues to improve. Clearly the two best youngsters around.

Stars of a different aspect of racing.

In 1990 Ilustrador won the Rupert Ellis Brown over 1200m,the SA Guineas,The Rothmans July and the Gold Cup.

That is some feat.
