Reminder - check terms and rules
9 years 10 months ago
Seeing a lot of new members on the site, so just a heads-up to any newbie punters. Make sure you check rules esp for sports betting with your bookmaker. The rules are mostly pages and pages... And they often differ from firm to firm.
I regard myself a seasoned soul, but got a lesson in the basics this week were I thought was not what it is.
Especially pertinent with regards to cricket. The industry standard is that in test match a certain amount of overs must be bowled to constitute a 'fair' match, normally 300-350 overs. This protects them and us so that heavily rain affected matches don't become a farce, and the only result could be 'draw'. However, for example, Hollywood don't use this rule.
It's monsoon season in Bangladesh, it's pissing down every other day, 220 odd overs were bowled and Hollywood will settle the market as a draw.
This is not a moan, just a reality check. Obviously if you know this, and the weather, bearing in mind there are no certainties in life, the draw bet from day 2 and 3 at really decent odds considering the risk was the clever bet... Lesson to self.

Tennis rules also differ from firm to firm
In the UK most fitms refund/ void if a player is injured, while others declare the winner if one point is scored

Industry standard? as far as I know only 2 online bookies have this rule, and they are both wankers

And should you be most fortunate, the maximum winnings from your friendly bookmaker are usually per day and not per event.
