Loopy/Pirates and anyone that cares
9 years 10 months ago
The debate of tipster v no tipster will always be a hot topic. The fact of the matter is Loopy is NOT a tipster, he simply publishes rates (and tinkers) and so do many publish rates.
Timeform for example and Computaform. They all charge.
I will not defend Loopy nor attack Pirates or vice versa.....what i will do is explain the reality of gambling in the current climate.
As of the 1st September last year i started gambling full time. There were a few things i thought i knew but factually i knew nothing.
Its been a LONG curve and now finally it works ok. here though are some points i have learnt....
1: the enemy is the bookmaker
2: anybody providing you (free or not) with ratings/tips has a value, you just need to identify it.
3: With so much racing you need input from other sources to move the odds in your favour
4: Stats and numbers need to be looked at.
5: Trainers are creatures of habit, this is very evident in UK and Irish racing.
6: No way can you operate a "punting business" and expect to win every day
7: Like any other business you will have bad days (low trading/selling days) sort of like a business that sell ice you need to be around all year to experience the good times
8:I employ 4 people in my office , they do research/open accounts/bet/lay off
9:I also subscribe to
9:1 loopy
9:2 computaform
9:3 timeform
9:4 flatstats.co.uk
9:5 Equibase
9:6 betkudos
9:7 a newmarket based socialite
9:10 Bookieinsiders
and I'm sure a few more i can't remember.......
10: YOU MUST have a staking strategy that allows you months of betting, this might mean that you start off betting £2 a horse (which we did eventually after being silly big bollocks) but now we up to £30 a bet but we can easily go 400 losing bets in a row......that took discipline.
The OTHER reason i use so many sources of information is some one said to me...." your portfolio cannot only invest in 1 thing, you need to spread, so that when one is down the other is up" that keeps the cash flow flowing.
Guys if you do this for fun then mazeltof......if you want to make a serious living from it then it needs investment just like any business.
Of course not every source of ratings/info/tips is worth the investment BUT frankly i do believe that ANY information is worthwhile after all we can lay them as well.
