I saw the replay. He tried to hold onto her as long as he can and when he did start to ride her more vigorously from about the 150m mark she found nothing. Beaten by a better horse.

I saw it that way also - this filly obviously only has a short burst but has a high cruising speed(I watched most of her last runs on replay). I noticed in most of her other races she she was not whipped excessively as she does not respond to that. She travels like a winner but finds little acceleration in the last 50m. I think Dumpy was watching another race

To be fair as well i believe the result was not out of this world yes money did come for la rebel but purely atomic has solid form here as well and imo he may have been looking around knowing his horse is running out of steam? Surely thats a possibilty. People forget all the money horses gift has booted home recently

Didn't see this race but watch the rides by Sehle Cele and Muzi Yeni in the last yesterday. Both got suspensions I hear. Both shocking in there stupidity and also having absolutely no respect for their fellow jockeys and their safety. :angry:

poor ride in my opinion,if your happy with it,then your easily pleased.
Riding from the 150metres mark was the problem,he should have put he's head down and kicked on earlier.
He got vigorous to late and only when he saw the winner coming up.
