Race 1 is very tough - some very well bred first timers and a few with promising form. Of those that have raced, La Flambee and Elusive Empress look the best.
Race 2 Rodney was very impressive on debut, and the handicapper has given March On MR 88 for his win when beating Rodney 1.75L. I think an inflated rating, but with natural improvement Rodney a confident selection. Imperial Guard is always thereabouts, and Hard Days Night also good debut and should come on from that.
Race 3: Ilium and Preoccupation should fight this out.
Race4: Solar Night has been knocking on the door and should land his maiden here.
Race 6:Speedball is the one to beat. Fraternize and Wingerd the dangers. We expect a much better run from Deep Secret, but she is still immature.
Race 7: March On has been whacked with a MR 88, while Mr Wise Guy only 78. They both won not too dissimilar quality maidens, and March On had the benefit of a 4kg claimer. While I think March On is a very promising sort ( and I am biased towards him since I bred him) it is a very tough ask at these weights, and he will have to improve a lot from his last run to win. I think that the rating for Mr Wise Guy is about right, but the rating for March On is overkill. He may well end up rated higher than this, but totally unfair to smack him like this on his maiden win. Basically robbing him of at least one win. Interestingly, Sporting Post ratings gave them both 78 for their respective winning runs. They should fight it out, but at the weights must prefer Mr Wise Guy.
Race 8: Star Express ran well behind the smart Anglet last time, and should improve further to win this.
