Alimony, a horse that thrived on the Vaal Sand and made his mark on the Emerald Cup, returns to venue of his greatest victory on Saturday 29th August.
Retired in 2009 after a final tilt at his favorite race, the gelding has transitioned well into the world of showjumping and eventing.
The ten-time-winner, ran 71 times earning stakes of 1.2 million rand. His finest effort came in the Emerald Cup of 2008 where he rattled home under Devin Habib to give owner/trainer St John Gray a home-bred victory. He retired in 2009 as a nine-year-old after his fourth and final effort in the Emerald Cup.

The fourteen-year-old son of Alami, is now owed by popular television presenter and producer, Andrew Bon, and will compete in the .80m Class in the Racing To Jump Vaal edition.
The pair are entered for event 1 which begins at 10am.

"Alimony ran 4 times in the Emerald Cup. He Finished 1st, 3rd and 2nd before running unplaced in his very last start as a 9 year old.
Quite a feat. His first win in THE CUP was on the 27th September 2008. On Sept 26th 2009 he finished 3rd to Phunyuka and then on the 25th of September 2010 he finished 2nd to Iron Curtain.
A true soldier, a true little war horse."
