When was that photo taken and where is it on the course? If this is a recent photo and it is on the racing surface then the admin guy from Phumelela needs to get a new pair of spectacles.

Looks like the starting stalls have been there. Maybe where they pull them off the polytrack onto the grass and when the horses have gone past then pull it back into position for the start. Greyville was scared this would happen so have got something that they pull it onto so as not to damage the grass.

its pretty obvious that the marks are caused by the starting stalls at the furthest starting point in the straight

Academic actually as to were it is considering that the Fairview turf track is closed until the 25th October..
