computaform has massive flaws

when it comes to the average merit rating per race and also the best weighted column it isnt correct..firstly the average merit rating per race does not take into account the weight for age allowance for the distance they running over and it therefore gives a gross rating per race and not a net rating per race also if a horse has had only 2 runs they don't include this horse in the average ratings meanwhile they could quite easily get the unofficial rating from handicapping... they simply add up all the gross ratings don't worry about horses that haven't got an official rating and divide by the number of horses who have ratings..the same applies for the best handicapped section whereby horses who haven't got an official rating do not appear in this column..quite frankly either the people that work at computaform or either to lazy to get this information correct or they simply don't know any better imo a combination of both..if you want to be the leader then give the reader who is meant to be at the top end of the market the correct information as far as merit ratings go..every time a horse runs there should be a column to show what it ran to especially given the fact that there are restrictions in place as far as penaltys go ie placed horses in plate races cant get a penalty and the max for winning a handicap is 8 pounds etc..this information should be in the computaform and not just for the select few who have contacts at handicaping

100% agree ......clearly no idea of what is needed for handicap pointers..............they will also show a turf CMR and then reflect a "sand" HMR !

Also need to reintroduce the adjustment factor for racetimes (unless its just some kind of guess which of course is likely!) as times, without relativity, are pointless!
I don't think they consulted properly when they assessed the priorities of content!

Tuesday 15th September race 2 a prime example of what I am talking about...under the best weighted section you don't have brazuca in the top 5 because he has had only 2 runs and computaform are to lazy to find out what his rating is from the hcapers ...he ran 2nd in a group 1 last time to the 2yo colt of the year seventh plain..if you want to boast how good your publication is then make sure you get all the information out there to the punter..

No just word processing virtually ................when they first changed it, it was the question ...............why not leave the layout pretty much as is but have a supportive, active website with stats,information and extensive predictive functionality!

Rob Computaform is unaproachable ive asked them a few questions in the past and apart from once i never get an answer..

Head Honcho's in local racing are answerable to no one....sure Computaform has since new format got some issues but hey who cares .....after all it's now in colour and looks awesome and is the choice of champions...world renowned....SA 's premier form guide....for high rollers....so who are we to to make comments or suggestions....

vee moodley worked as a handicapper he more than anyone should know how important the official handicapers ratings are for all in the industry..is it so hard for them to have a column in this supposedly new computaform with what each horse ran to ?handicapping department computaform at the end of the day are under one umbrella and in these days of modern technology it should be no problem..

A few years ago ,they stopped supplying the shop where I bought my Computaforms!The shop owner had not been advised why!
I contacted Computaform and was told that there were not enough sales at the outlet. I challenged that as I knew,that if I was late, they were often sold out.
After investigation ,it was discovered that the outlet,in fact, had the 2nd highest sales in the Gauteng area !!!!!!!!!! but the Distributor(man in a van) had advised them to drop it(it was a deviation in his travels)
The same management that believes that the quality of paper and coloured cover(at an additional cost of R900+,per month) is more important than the content, of a publication that has a value of absolute zero after the meeting covered,is over!
That is who manages our "world class publication!

.....go to that same outlet now....and see that the CompUTAFORMS are always in stock....because since the changes nothing will sell there anymore.... :huh:
