Phumulela-Another Bloody Nose!

Is it not sad that, instead of trying to win back lost custom by good management and customer service, the custodians of the local industry have resorted to their normal aggressive and arrogant strategy of bringing out the big stick,to beat opposition, into submission, and again, it seems to have backfired!
The now infamous litigation against the open bet was a complete disaster and they now embarked on an action which they obviously later decided was ill advised and made a failed attempt to withdraw. Not surprisingly, this action has also failed ,and now "P" face a disciplinary enquiry as it's reward.
Who is making these incredible decisions and who is advising them?
I don't think anybody disputes that, in the best interests of local racing, as much of the punted rand needs to be channelled through the tote. What has to be concerning, is that the tote would appear to be in such poor hands!

Problem is even the bookies are struggling to hold onto the racing punting money.. And if they can`t with promo`s and bonuses/presents etc i`m not sure how the operators will?

Bob ,there are 2 issues ........................1) who gets the racing Rand & 2) how to increase the racing Rand
They can't achieve the 1st ,so if "P" cant monopolise a monopoly ,what chance have they got of achieving the 2nd.
Let them work on solving the first problem!

Phumelela Gaming: Press Release
Date: 2 October 2015
The Gauteng Gambling Board (“the Board”) has turned down Phumelela's
application to amend its Totalisator and Race-Meeting Licences ("the
Application"). Phumelela requested permission to withdraw the Application a
year ago as it was prepared to continue to live with the condition. The
Board refused and accordingly Phumelela did not submit further arguments
supporting the Application.
Importantly, the Board did not grant the relief sought in a complaint by
the Gauteng Off-Course Bookmakers’ Association (“GOBA”), although it did
rule that it would investigate whether Phumelela has complied with its
licence conditions or contravened the Gauteng Gambling Act, 4 of 1995 (“the
Investigation”).
The far-reaching relief sought in GOBA’s complaint included the immediate
suspension of Phumelela’s licences.
Equally importantly, the Board also did not make any decision which would
adversely affect or delay Tellytrack’s ability to charge a licence fee
reflecting the fair economic value of the Tellytrack service.
Furthermore, the interim directive made by the Board on 9 October 2014,
which effectively directed Phumelela to ensure that Tellytrack is made
available to bookmakers at the 2013 price plus inflation until the hearing,
is no longer of any force or effect.
The Board deferred an application by GOBA for the imposition of additional
conditions on Phumelela’s Totalisator and Race-Meeting Licences, pending
the completion of the Investigation.
