Thx guys, the new rules here that have been put in place by the gambling reg authority has made things tough for me being a foreigner.
Looking forward to seeing you back on the Island Dave, hope you pop upstairs to the jockey room again.

If you a foreigner that is married to a Mauritian you may only ride for one stable, and if you lose your contract you may not ride for another stable for the rest of the season. (I will be contesting this).
If your country has no extradition with Mauritius you may not ride here (Luckily SA has).
If you accumulate or are suspended for 6 weeks or more you may not finish the season here AND not be able to ride in Mauritius the following season. Whether you a Mauritian or foreigner. (We are contesting this as well). As you know this is tricky track and suspensions get dished out like hot cakes!
Before I could ride freelance without a work permit but now I can not.

Well the moment they talk about extradition laws they are worried about crooked jocks. The other laws I would assume are to promote the locals.

Not really, Mauritian riders are worse off with the 6 week rule as they can not ride here for a full season where as a foreigner can fly home and carry on.
Last year we had a Brazilian jock that rode a shocker, he hopped on a plane and bolted before the enquiry took place. He ended up with a 6 month suspension but could not ride anyway as he did not get a clearance from the club. He didn't pay his tax either, hence the extradition law. (Sadly he was stabbed in Brazil by his ex wifes new boyfriend and passed away).
