Once again the public are short changed because of a doctored wicket to suit the home side. This happens far too often all over the world and that's why test cricket is dying and the crowds stay away, only in England do the crowds watch as its a chance for them to drink Pims and eat cucumber sarnies in the sunshine. Pointless watching the rest of the series as its going to go the same way. SA might as well send Steyn home to rest up for the England series as he is wasting his energy bowling on these tracks. After all these years you would think that SA batsman would have learnt how to play spin.

Yes the pitch was not great and the result might have hinged on the toss - but let's face it I think it is time for change - maybe not in coaching staff, but in player personnel - when your opening bat is one of your best spin bowlers and the other opener is shifted down (replaced by your opening bowler  ) to bat (top scoring) at 6, you have to wonder (well I do) about team selection...............
I agree that Steyn could be send home if there is not chance of him getting over the injury, but the immediate challenge is what do we do for the 2nd test - at Bengaluru, which will hopefully not be the same dustbowl as Mohali; do we pick the another batsmen, will Duminy and / or Morkel be ready ......do we open with Philander again

Not all is lost, but some wise (brave ?) calls need to be made.....

India won the toss and that was that.
Their spinners will take us apart on what is a doctored pitch.
As predicted
