Re: Are Trainers and Owners prefering the Polytrack?
9 years 6 months agothe lower the class of race the more noms there will be as the majority of the horse population fall into that category so you cannot just read into how many noms there are until you break down each event..Craig Eudey wrote: That is interesting with USA perceived to be a sand racing country. I see the new noms in today have 458 noms on the 13th at Scottsville, 524 at Greyville on the 16th(4 grass and 4 poly) and 598 at Greyville on the 18th ( all poly and only 7 races).

Santa Anita has changed it surface back to dirt and Del Mar hosts of the 2017 Breeders Cup has also changed it surface back to dirt after being a Polytrack surface. Also Toowoomba in Australia, has removed its Polytrack surface.
You have to hand it to the French though, even their Polytrack races get full size fields and their horses can come from any position.
The last words of your closing sentence Naresh...............
" Their horses can come from any position ".

Pirates, Scottsville 13th has a Pinnacle, Novice, mr86, mr72 and 4 maidens. Greyville 18th all poly has a Graduation, Mr94, 70,74 and 3 maidens. 140 more noms and 1 less race. That is why I started the thread. Not what it used to be.

craig when a minimum of 50 ;ercent of natals racing is on the polytrack it is a case of take it or leave it..i really couldn't give 2 fcuks as I don't own horses anymore so if they raced on the ambulance road inside greyville it would be fine..this sundays meeting says it all with full fields at pmb plus your director said on tv because you can have more runners in a race it gives 4 horses 4 trainers and 4 owners runners on the day..everyone is in agreement that a synthetic track is needed but when it becomes your track of choice because of the inability to maintain the turf tracks then alarm bells are raised..

Did anyone see the interview with the groundsman before racing tonight ? If only his arrogance was outweighed by his product.

IMHO this statement looks like it is true these days. Greyville polytrack on Friday has 7 races all with full fields and reserves and the 8th a Graduation has 11 runners which is almost unheard of for a plate race.
