It's actually not too difficult to work out, but that format has some serious flaws. I've run competitions like that before, and what happens is that players that are out of contention keep trying to select longer and longer shots to catch up to the leaders in one lucky race. So it becomes a luck thing thing because players are not actually selecting the real horses they fancy. When I've added all players totals together in the past in those kind of competitions, the total was almost always deep in the red. On the new format, ABC tipsters made an average profit of about 4% per bet. So I'm interested to see if we were just lucky or if we as a team we can turn a profit again under the new format.

P.S. Today's most popular choice by our tipsters started at odds on and lost.
