Cape Town - Manchester United are placed third when it comes to teams awarded the most penalties in the history of the English Premiership, but who is in first?

The Red Devils would be everyone’s first solid guess having watched the Red Devils dominate the Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, the numerous amount of ‘Fergie Time’ allocated over the years have not been enough as United are 14 penalties behind the team with the most penalties taken.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have taken most of the penalties with Arsenal having taken the second most penalties.

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea are placed in fourth position while Newcastle United are fifth on the list.

Everton and Tottenham Hostpur follow the Magpies on the list while Aston Villa, Manchester City and Championship side, Blackburn Rovers complete the top 10.

With Ferguson United did not require penalties to win matches. What won them the titles was that hardly any penalties were awarded against them and if there was it was when the match had already been won. Refs were afraid to send off United players and also they hardly got booked as this would have lead to suspensions. My dislike for United went away when Ferguson left. I enjoy LVG
