Abashiri is staying in Joburg for the Triple Crown according to a newspaper interview with Azzie in August.

The Paddock stakes is shaping up to be one of the best in years- SJ, SC and Inara will all be there. Not sure about Smart Call and Pine Princess but both likely to raid from Jhb. Can't see any 3yos of note, since Silver Mountain and Lauderdale have the $1m two weeks later so will probably give it a miss. Only SM is capable of challenging the 4yos.
I thought SM a bit unlucky in the running- probably not enough to beat Noah, but should have got 2nd. The 2 week gap is very tough on a filly trying to do the Guineas double. An extra week would make a significant difference.
SJ very impressive today, and will now be favourite for the Paddock. SC will come on lengths from this, and will relish the 1800m, as will Inara.
Queens Plate a day not to be missed, as a massive clash between Futura, Legislate and Capt America as well.

WSB are def leading with odds they had Impala at 33/10 Same Jurisdiction at 1-1 and Zafira at 28/10...so for me to get those prices on thursday was a good xmas box..
