Tellytrack Streaming
9 years 5 months ago
I am finding it very difficult to fathom why Tellytrack deems it necessary to charge a subscription rate for their new streaming service.
I have not viewed the service so cannot comment on its content or whether it offers more (or less) than I get from my online bookmaker's stream; where the simple placing of a bet gives me 'free' access to the stream.
Correct me if I am misinformed but I would guess that the whole purpose of a streaming service is to, ideally, foster punting activity and, in particular, Saftote betting. As that organisation has a takeout ranging from 20% - 33% on every bet struck ( and not just winning bets!) I would have expected that a deduction as eyewateringly large as that would make a more than adequate contribution to the cost of the streaming service.
I doubt whether anyone who NEVER bets actually watches Tellytrack and, if there is actually such an animal, would they really be bothered to sign up for the service?
To me this is akin to Woolworths launching a marketing site and demanding that you pay to view it when the whole object of the site is to get you to buy their goods and services. At least racecourses in SA seem to understand this concept as, outside of the really big days, racecourse admission is free in the hope that you will buy their retail product - a Tote bet.

Have to agree with Garrick ...................recent interview on winning ways where the outgoing Gold Circle boss stated that...... "eventually every body will accept that Tellytrack should be allowed show a profit!"
I'm at a loss as to why Tellytrack is treated as anything other than a marketing and distribution medium and I believe that Garricks points are valid to every area of Tellytrack!

They having a promo subscriber no 501 will receive a years subscription free. Personally i see no need for me to join this cause I have channel 239 on my dstv subs and if I want to watch any replay I use the you tube channel for kzn racing or I use that race replays site(quality is bad ) . Happy and content with there way things are now though.

It's a fantastic service. I am ecstatic with the availability of tellytrack across any platform and at a mere R70 a month it is well worth it.
The quality is superb and it not only has live racing but race replays as well from all the tracks. A great initiative and something I hope they build on.
