Alston Naidoo - on course TT presenter

9 years 5 months ago
#594426
Here's my observation:

1. He talks too much/ way too verbose.
2. Does not give Julie or his co presenter a chance to talk
3. Does not know how to be conversational, exchanging, allowing another to share
4. Perhaps the above is because he is nervous - hence very little smiling, personality, humour etc

Suggestions: More training for new TT presenters? More meeting among presenters to give feedback and pointers?

Imo they can talk as quick and as much as they like as long as the information they share is accurate .

Alston is getting better imo and I feel he adds the punters view a bit ?

Some presenters like Auld Stan at KENILWORTH are very knowledgeable but don't take notice of bookies and punting

I am sure he is on twitter or Facebook. Send him your observations directly. I once did with Gareth Pepper and he was very appreciative.

He is certainly not ready to do the studio on his own ........kept reminding us to take the mixed bi-pot.......long after the first and second legs had run ........
I'm not sure who puts him in studio on his own but won't let Nadine Rapson present PE alone.....I don't get it!

Hey just by the way.. Is there any stats available on who of all these on course presenters actually tips the most winners? It would be interesting.. Apologies of this has already been mentioned in a topic or something. If not perhaps someone should start it and we can see... I know for a fact when certain guys talk very very highly of a horse to win that horse usually goes missing..

You will obviously get different opinions wrt the above, but for me Julie, Deez and Sheldon and Nadine know their stuff and are worth listening to.
In the Cape the only person is Grant Knowles.

Personally I think that he has big potential.

Let us give the guy a break. He is a youngster and will be good for Tellytrack.

its very hard to put blame on any on course presenter but rather blame the person or persons who actually employed them..the real issue is you need someone who can watch every preview each presenter does and then make a list of their mistakes list them sit down with them and draw up an action plan how to correct them...HOWEVER THERE IS NOBODY AT TELLYTRACK WHO HAS THE KNOWLEDGE TO PICK UP ON THESE ERRORS AND THEREFORE THEY WILL CONTINUE FOREVER and the presenters can never improve ....yes you can improve their presenting skills on how to speak the queens English but for me the product knowledge is of the utmost importance not how you speak English...just like almost every facet of the industry tellytrack does not have competition and we all know what happens then

Today's proceedings I felt went very well and this combination will do very well again. I liked the info where the duo informed the punters of how Paul Peter rated the winner in the 8th and also some useful snippets on runners that were expected to improve and did run well.
I had a profitable day thanks to the presenters.
