.....although caffiene is a direct stimulant it is not used as such.....it is part of many medications to increase heart rate and metabolism to ensure the efficacy of medicine is optimin......read the bumf on his case.....got lost.....the Good should have copped a guilty plea and said the horse had been given cough mixture and got a lesser penalty....making a big spiel over it makes people think there is much more to the case than a horse with a snotty nose...

Mutiman will explain that a reading of 500ng/ml is a very low reading and the literature tells us at under 10,000 ng/ml it has no effect on a horse's performance.
Also metabolites lower than reading indicate contamination. Its not finished and anyone want a copy of Thomas Tobin's evidence in the case can contact me.

If you read the judgement,it is clear (including as pointed out by advocate Maselle's observation in sporting post) that the original charge almost became a secondary concern ...............the penalty became based on emotion and anger at what they term as James lack of co-operation!
Have no doubt that its far from over..................................from both points of view!

Aldric's form makes interesting reading
He took 10 runs to win a maiden as a 3yo in May 2013- MR 69, having been rated as high as 78 while still a maiden. He won his second race as a 4yo 9/2013 rated 77. Having briefly been rated 79, he then ran a couple of poor races, dropping quite quickly to 69- in Jan 2014 he won off this mark and was pushed back to 72. In June 2014 he won again off 72, raised later to 77. In October 2014 as a 5 yo won his 5th race off a rating of 77- raised to 81. He beat the aptly named Live Controversy!
This was the race which gave rise to the positive test result.
His next 12 runs over the next year or so are all unplaced, during which time he drops from a 81 to a 65.
He won again this weekend off MR 65.
Is it a coincidence that his form dropped off quite dramatically immediately after the failed dope test?

?...........although the caffeine and other metabolite levels were found to be negligible .....they were still present.........and lessons can be learnt that although the medications containing caffeine have a fast action in clearing up phlem congestion and nasal discharges..........however levels of the metabolites from such treatments trap in the mucous layers of the nasal and respiratory passages and feed back into the bloodstream and eventually the endocrine systems days after treatment.......best to rest even though the horse seems be in better condition,...........but yes the levels detected would have no effect on performance
?........

So the fact that it produced its highest ever measured ability, during that run, was merely coincidence ?

?........the horse is in and out at best.......but you can bet your bottom dollar the samples from yesterday are going to be really over scrutinized and even if a bit of fly crap will show up in the results.......

This example highlights,in my mind, the problem of our racing model, and puts racing in a bad light.
The day a sample proves positive is also the "best" run of a horses career (@14/1)-very hard to sell that as coincidence.........&
To exacerbate the problem the horse loses form ,and after a 16 llb FORM discount arrives to stuff punters again (@ 28/1)
The rules and regulations need to be improving racings image, not reinforcing the belief that you need inside knowledge!
To be fair ,it does not appear that the stable or connections have benefitted from the patterns ,as the horse has not won when it has been backed,so the system catches connections as well as punters.
To some extent ,it is unfortunate for James that it happens to be one of his horses that illustrates the shortcomings!
