The fist nine in the derby have a great career ahead of them. Silver Mountain is the best filly but it would be interesting to see her over 2000m....
Don't let Abashiri, Noah or New Predator hear you say that...

Re: Merit Ratings Three Year Olds

Around this time last year I responded to the various negative comments regarding the quality of the 2014/15 3yo crop, and gave my opinion that the fillies were well above average, and the colts were pretty decent.
As it turned out, ALL the top F&M WFA races were won by the 3yo fillies, as well as some open sprints.
Siren's Call is injured, but Same Jurisdiction, Inara and Smart Call continue to dominate this year as 4 yo's, while Majmu and Cold as Ice are abroad. Pine Princess is an out an out stayer- I expect her to win this Saturday.
It is true that the 3yo colts did not succeed in the July, but that was more because of relative ratings, some bad luck in the running, and the short Greyville straight than any deficiencies on the part of Legal Eagle and French Navy. I would agree that The Conglomerate was over rated.
The Tarry pair are the real deal, and are well tested by top 5 year olds Futura, Legislate and Captain America.
Harry's Son is abroad, and Unparalelled has soundness issues.
All the evidence point to the 2014/15 3 yo's being a decent crop.
We must always be careful not to write off the 3yos until the staying types have had time to mature. Some years the precocious 2 yo's do not train on - this may be one of those years.

True Mr H  ..I think Black Arthur ran below par for whatever reason, you just had to listen to Snaith talking about Black Arthur to see how much he rated him. I think next time they meet, Black Arthur wipes the floor with It's my turn.

Now New Predator......there is a top horse in the making. My prediction is that he is better than Nrazuca. Interesting times ahead

I would like to throw another name into the pool even though its very early days for this horse and that is Ten Gun Salute. He is up this Sunday and should be banker in everything. He is only now learning his trade and has an action second to none. Its definitely going to be a fantastic Natal season.
