Amazing!!

Commentating has never been an easy job,but when "Bumpy" Schoeman calls a result incorrectly,and apologises some clanners go ballistic.Craig Peters called race 7 2nd place Princess Beach instead of Barcelona Babe.NO apology and not a squeak from any of the Clanners.Life's a bitch!!

Probably because the PE incorrect calls happen every week without fail while errors in KZN are so infrequent that they are missed and are regarded as mistakes not features of commentaries( I don't think there is a meeting that passes where the PE guy does not do something left of center). The only defense I've ever heard for the PE farce is that he has big fields to call and he adds local character, neither of which carry any weight with me as I've seen him call the incorrect result in a six horse field(winner) and if mediocrity is the sign of character then we are lost. I have given up on him as it seems he is bullet-proof.

Anyone have proof of Dumpy's apology? I did not hear anything on the day. Just some excuses from the post race commentator that the horse turned it's head sideways which resulted in the loss. Ok, I was one of those who went "ballistic" at Dumpy's call and missed the race Craig did the same. I may be mistaken but I think Craig called the incorrect horse with the same colours as the other. I would even say that in this instance it was probably just as bad for those who were on the wrong one thinking the horse ran in the places whereas in Dumpy's case it was as clear as daylight that the horse he called did not win. Unforgivable that it happens every week in PE.

Has Dumpy got a stunning looking daughter that he's boss has got the hots for?
Or has Dumpy got some dodgy photos of the boss?
I've been thinking for 5 years and that's what my warped mind has come up with.

I've been thinking for 5 years and that's what my warped mind has come up with.

I may be wrong but I think because Dumpy's voice is synonymous with racing in PE and I can imagine he doesn't have many more years to go before retirement.. He isn't going anywhere until then.

I remember my very first visit to a racecourse ever, was at Arlington quite some years ago with my dad (maybe 15+ years) who hadn't been there for many years possibly another 15 years and he told me the guy calling the races was around when he was last there.. So I've grown up visiting a racecourse and hearing Dumpy call. There's that sense of loyalty in PE.. I would to get there and hear someone like Sheldon calling as hard as he tries to entertain.. Or as precise as Allister is he just doesnt keep you guessing as much as Dumpy haha..

I concur,as much as I think he is NVG( not very good), I think I would miss him.
A bit like Frank Spencer,when Some Mothers Do Ave Em stopped I thought that was the end of the likeable idiot,but at least we have Dumpy and Chicken.
