I noticed that Grant van Niekerk does not ride any of the Bass horses tomorrow?
is there a problem between them or is there a plausible explanation?

The horse that should win R2 is Ovar (3/1). Judging on the run of the 28/10/, won by Breathless Bertie (8/1), Ovar is 8.0kgs better off for a 3.10 length beating. From that self same race Ovar is better off with Galaxy King (5/1) by 5.0kgs, and Tell Me More (18/10) by 2.50kgs. Ovar also has a 1.0 kg swing at the weights with Red Rex (4/1) for a 1.75 length beating on their last meeting.

Looking at the price of the favourite, Tell Me More (18/10), then surely Ovar is, at worst, 18/10 as well, if not a point or two shorter. From draw 2, I think Ovar is the one they all have to beat. My on the head punt for the day.

Played the double Ovar onto Rock On Geordies (19/1 the double) in the 4th. Whilst both Bora Bora (22/10) and Doctorow (33/10) have run against (maybe) more illustrious individuals, there is always the possibility they can run flat, both are having their second runs after a rest. Rock On Geordies (4/1) is racing fit and jumps from a decent draw, if he gets away okay, think he may be difficult to peg back, especially if the track is running fast.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

BORA BORA will enjoy the mile double with Impala Lilly in the last, back down to his favourite distance.

Hermes, Grant has quite a few rides for Bass on Saturday, so perhaps just an odd meeting with some odd jockey / trainer combinations.

Race 4: We have Mighty Hash running. He is steadily improving, but is still quite immature. Unfortunately pulled a wide draw, which makes life difficult, especially at this tight track. Not the strongest of fields, and with some luck in the running, could sneak into the money.
Race 8: Entre Nous comes into this race off a nice maiden win. She was given a rating of 74, which looks fair. It is a very competitive race, but she is working well and is fit. I think that she is good ew value at the 25/1 quoted on Interbet.
Supercilious cantered in last time, has good form at this track, and is the one to beat. impala Lily has some class and will be competitive. Hilaria confirmed her good run in a top class race by subsequently winning her maiden at the 22nd attempt. She looks well weighted if she can maintain her form.
