Gauteng Guineas , Fillies Guineas

Only Lineker from Snaith yard and Ole Gunnar from Lafferty yard nominated from other provinces for the Gauteng Guineas and kum Naidoo with two runners for the fillies version.

Where are all the other young lads and lasses from around the country? Disappointing!!

Really disappointing , must be easier to keep some of the Cape horses going for a month or so than to let them down and bring them back ?

i still don't get why the joburg guineas is a gr2 bt a similar race in cpt is a gr1, i gues it's one of those non-sense-making things in our racing

It's not that easy- the coastal horses need time to acclimatise in Gauteng. It's also asking too much for a horse to do all three seasons CT/Gauteng/KZN. The 3yos in particular have had quite a tough Cape season, with the sales races as well as the usual Classics and prep races.
There isn't a really top Cape 3yo miler amongst the colts this year yet that would beat the top Gauteng colts.
Silver Mountain has had a particularly hard season in that she ran in the fillies races, as well as the colts Guineas and the $m, and she is well ahead of the other 3yo fillies.

Looks the bet of the month. I think she'll win easily - Polyphonic the only unknown.

It is impractical so it won't happen, but in a perfect world, all the graded feature races would take place on a track designed specifically for purpose and probably situate at somewhere like Summerveld...........................the fairest area where all horses would be ,as near as possible,on an equal footing ..........Gauteng and Cape horses hit the ground running in Natal but battle in each others back yard.
Would make for some very interesting "Super" meetings!

The Cape Guineas is national whereas Joburg's Guineas is regional. Coastal champions don't raid Gtng Guineas nor do the Highveld's own champions race in its own Guineas e.g. this year Noah From Goa won't be racing. My sixpence worth.
