Racing. It's a Rush: PRESS RELEASE
Subject: ATTEND THIS YEAR’S JOBURG PRAWN FESTIVAL AND WIN FANTASTIC
PRIZES!
Date: 24 FEBRUARY 2016
Triple Crown and Triple Tiara fever is rife in Johannesburg at present as
fans anticipate this Saturday’s big Guineas meeting at Turffontein, which
coincides with the mouth-watering Joburg's Prawn Festival.
The Gr 2 R1 million Betting World Gauteng Guineas forms the alternate first
leg of the Triple Crown, while the Gr 2 R500,000 Wilgerbosdrift Fillies
Guineas forms the alternate first leg of the Triple Tiara.
Therefore Johannesburg’s historic racecourse will be the place of
destination for racing purists from far and wide, especially considering
the hype which the Gauteng Guineas favourite Abashiri is beginning to
attract. Could this magnificent, long-striding bay become the third horse
in history to land the Triple Crown? Furthermore, could the much talked
about Gauteng Fillies Guineas favourite Negroamaro become another horse to
land the Triple Tiara.
The on course atmosphere will be enhanced by families seeking a fun day
out. The flavour of their day will in turn be enhanced by the opportunity
to savour fresh succulent prawns at a bargain price. For only R85.00, a
half a kilogram of prawns can be purchased accompanied by chips, rice and a
choice of peri-peri, lemon butter or garlic butter sauces.
Racing. It's a Rush are giving away 10 Incredible Connection vouchers on
race day, one after each race, worth R 3 000.00 each. To stand a chance to
win a voucher, simply write your full name, ID number, contact details and
email address on the back of a losing tote ticket and place it in one of
the bins situated on the ground floor in the Prawn Festival Bedouin. There
will also be a host of entertainment opportunities for kids on course,
including a horse carousel, chair swing carousel, parachute rides, a
mechanical bull and a jumping castle with a slide.
Racing. Its a Rush has partnered with Uber to assist racegoers with
convenient and safe transport to and from the Prawn Festival. First time
users of Uber can sign up with the code PRAWNFEST and get their first ride
free, up to the value of R 150.00
The other alternate first leg of the Triple Crown was the Gr 1 Grand Parade
Cape Guineas, which was won by the now overseas-bound Noah From Goa. The
second leg is the R2-million Grade 1 SA Classic on Saturday 2 April and the
final leg is the R2-million Grade 1 SA Derby on Saturday 30 April.
Any horse landing the prestigious Triple Crown secures a R2 million bonus.
The Triple Tiara’s alternate first leg was the Gr 1 WSB Cape Fillies
Guineas, won by Silver Mountain, who will not be making the journey to
Turffontein from her Cape Town base. The second and third legs, on the same
dates as the Triple Crown races, are the Gr 1 R1 million Wilgerbosdrift SA
Fillies Classic and the Gr 1 R1 million Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks
respectively.
A R1 million bonus will be won by any horse landing the Triple Tiara.
Siren’s Call came within a stride last year of joining Igugu (2011) and
Cherry On The Top (2013) as a Triple Tiara winner.
The great Horse Chestnut (1999) and the rags-to-riches fairytale horse
Louis The King (2014) have been the only two winners of the Triple Crown to
date.
So come to Turffontein Racecourse this Saturday, 27 February, and
experience a feast of the senses from nostalgia, to exhilaration, to
olfactory.
