Subject: PRAWNS AND PEOPLE APLENTY AT KENILWORTH RACECOURSE
Date: 23 FEBRUARY 2016
The Cape Town Prawn Festival brought down the curtain on a memorable Cape
Summer Of Champions at Kenilworth Racecourse this past Saturday and this
family fun day was once again well attended.
A kilogram of prawns was available at a bargain price and throughout the
day this indulgence was accompanied by top class racing.
The crowd figure of 7000 spoke for the increased popularity of this annual
event consuming over 2.5 tons of Prawns.
Racegoers also stood a chance of winning appliance giveaways to the value
of R50,000.
The winner of the grand prize of appliances to the value R20,000 was Norma
Laubscher.
The main race of the day was the Grade 3 Vasco Prix Du Cap in which some
top class fillies clashed over 1400m.
The race lived up to its billing and in an exciting contest Cuvee Brut
trained by Brett Crawford won under a fine ride by Anton Marcus.
The supporting feature was the CTS Chairman’s Cup and this marathon
handicap event over 3200m was won by King Of Pain trained by Joey Ramsden
was ridden by Bernard Fayd’herbe.
The revelry continued until after 6 in the evening, with the last race
being run at five-past six.
Many satisfied racegoers then departed a course which has seen so much
exhilarating action in a ground-breaking Cape Summer Of Champions Season,
which now contains a January program as spectacular as any month of racing
anywhere in the world.

Compared to last year...this was chalk and cheese. Last year i stood 1 hour in the queue....this year was a lot more efficient. Getting your coupon was easy and the queues much shorter. There were also 2 or 3 different stations serving and not only 1 like last year. My family and i enjoyed the day.
well done to the sponsors and the organisers
