Really looking forward to the opener.... Surely this must be one of the most expensive assembled baby races....

Race 7- Should it jump on terms, Daring Dave is the one to beat. Has been a winner last 2 runs bar the start. MR has stuck and although line break better off at weights compared to run to Gulf Storm, if one takes into account the distance lost at start, DD should be too good.... Should he flutter the start again Linebreak should bring home the bacon....

Race 7, very interesting race, and going with what I feel is the value - Hoist The Mast (6/1). Three year old filly taking on the boys, and should have a chance of winning. It's pretty obvious what the race plan will be when you look at the jockey booking and weight to be carried - jump and go, (or so I'm hoping).

The million dollar question is, can both Tar Heel (7/2) and Line Break (22/10) give Hoist The Mast 9.50kgs and a beating?

For me, what is encouraging regards Hoist The Mast, she appears to be progressive. In her last race, not only did she concede weight to the entire field, but she conceded 8.50kgs to the runner-up, and that was in open company.

Beating the boys will always be difficult, but with the correct weight advantage, it's not impossible.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

My tuppence worth on R7... I agree with Bayern that Hoist The Mast is the possible value and the tactics he mentioned do look likely. My concern though is that yesterday sahorseracing was reporting a headwind (not updated this morning as yet) and that could be costly against some strong finishers. Also, her time when beaten by Acaciawood was slower than that of both Daring Dave and Line Break, same day, same c/d and though HTM was sluggish at the start, her issues were not the same as those encountered by the aforementioned two boys later in the day.
Daring Dave if breaking much better is of course a force to be reckoned with but my preference is for the favourite Line Break. Although not as poorly away as DD, he also missed the break that day but had the additional issues of being drawn 1 on a day the sheep all charged to the outside rail and as a consequence appeared to meet a fair bit of trouble in running, particularly when it looked like he was trying to start his winning effort. It is possibly a little on the sharp side but if starting his effort soon enough, I think he is the most likely. Just my opinion though and an interesting race as Bayern says with the possibilities not restricted to the three mentioned. Line Break x Daring Dave x Hoist The Mast though for me.
No heart-warming required and, even if they were to finish in that order, I really have zero interest in being nominated for the hugely prestigious ABC annual "Daily Thread" awards ceremony, despite the world-wide attention it can get you lol :silly:
