No idea how fit they are but Nightingale, Victorious Jay and Bela-Bela are the class in their respective races. Expecting big things from the latter two this winter season.

People really should stop criticizing Gold Circle with regards to raiding horses, they clearly only race on the Greyville turf when there are visitors entered for those races. :woohoo:

Why would they switch the first three races to the poly if the grass track is supposedly 'okay enough' for the Gr.3 horses to run on? Does not really make sense. Why risk it with the classy horses? Is it because the poly can only have 12 runners in a race? With a pen of 35 for the grass, surely that is too soft for racing? Or am I being too soft? :p

If a pen of 35 was too soft for racing Cape Town would have no winter or spring racing.

Probably to keep it for the " better" races

Which tells you it's in poor Nick imo

Bob, I think that as we at the end of our growing season now, a lot of irrigation is being put on the try and maximize growth while they can. You then get a couple of days of cold weather and continuous drizzle and light rain which has hardly any run off and it just soaks in. IMHO you are probably better off to race after 50mls of rain in 30 mins than 10 mls over 24hrs.

If Bela Bela needs it tonight Flying Ice or Bella Senata could be an alternative
