Last Man Standing...Rules

Last Man Standing Rules - If and When we hold the competition.

Buy - in R100.

Usual competition format of R100 tote win and place, with the scoring done The Speculator way. Start the day with -R900 (if 9 races) and attempt to finish the day on a positive.

If only one person has a positive balance at the end of the day, they take the pool.

If more than one person has a positive balance these entries go into the following stipulated meeting with that balance (minus the R900 for their new selections as per the starting day)

All those who took part in the first day can decide whether they want to buy into the next meeting to compete with those on a positive balance. These entries DO NOT carry their balances forward, but start the day on the standard -900 (or however many races). NOTE: No NEW entries, only those who competed from day one.

If you decline the next meeting then you cannot at any stage buy into a running competition. there must be continuity.

For second round onwards, the competitors have until Friday evening before the stipulated meeting to declare their intentions to enter or not. This affords them the opportunity to assess the fields and decide if they can get a positive balance and stay in the game. The players who carried forward a positive balance may not do so again and therefore one's chance of winning is fairly decent.

Buy ins are always R100 for start to finish of the competition except for those maintaining a positive balance as they are already 'in'

The competition ends as soon as only ONE player has a positive balance at the end of the days racing. If no one manages a positive balance the entire pool gets carried forward to the next "LAST MAN STANDING" competition where we start from scratch with a normal buy in.

I am not trying to be a wise arse, we have one on ABC already, but i would only have the players who are in a credit carry on. They must each add another R100 to the pool. each week that it is not won.Why complicate matters.

Valid point. The correct wording should be "they may fail to once again achieve a positive balance" .

The minority achieve a positive return usually and hence the competition would in all likelihood stop after two, maybe three meetings depending on how large the initial 'positive' was.

The idea of the buy in is to boost the pool, hopefully on two or 3 occasions to something substantial and more importantly give more persons an jnterest on race days.

Oh yeah....... and is course is how I like it :P
