Interbet Users Beware Phishing Emails

In my inbox this morning was a phishing e-mail with subject "Check Now Please !" and the body containing the Apple Store logo, a paragraph urging me to "Complete all informations" (sic) and a link that takes you to what looks like a good replica of the Apple Store credit card details page.

Now I know this originated from Interbet because I manage my own e-mail server and whenever I register at a site I use a unique e-mail address for that site (such as myname.interbet@mydomain.com) and use a catch-all to receive it. If someone whores out my address I can easily block or change a single one.

So either Interbet has resorted to sending out phishing e-mails, one of their staff is/has sold their database to scammers, or they have been hacked.

Be wary of e-mails asking you to input sensitive information.

As you know yesterday in the media confirmed that there was a data breach of over 30 million accounts in South Africa. Interbet was breached and subsequently customers information has been compromised.

Use the link below to see if your email account has been compromised/hacked.

Pastes you were found in
A "paste" is information that has been published to a publicly facing website designed to share content, usually anonymously. Often these are indicators of a data breach so review the paste and determine if your account has been compromised then take appropriate action such as changing passwords. Pastes are often removed shortly after having been posted. Read more on the pastes page.
