Have to agree with Clyde Basel at the end of the Article, this has been well executed..

We know the horse had to do the talking on track , but the scenes on track today were incredible, and Racing Its A Rush the Van Vuurens have done brilliant with the campaign..

Thoughts ?

The marketing on course seemed great - i just hope some of that vibe got to the unconverted -was that on any channel other than Tellytrack - a build up to what the triple crown means, plus showing the support by the orange brigade,on course, which was amazing, would have made a grest impression on the uninitiated.

Racing has never battled to get people to the track on the big occasions as the on course experience is highly entertaining.

The issue over the last three decades has always been the inability to convert the crowd into customers and this will not change until the focus shifts to marketing racing as an activity rather than purely an attraction.

The way the van Vuurens and the operator promoted the Triple Crown has to be commended and there is no doubt that a horse like Abashiri makes for a wonderful marketing opportunity that should be exploited to the full.

Racing should capitalise on these opportunities, yet never does because of turnover dominating thinking ahead of the enjoyment that people need to experience from involvement first.

Lay a solid foundation of racing being synonymous with entertainment and all of the rest will fall into place including the much needed turnover gains to fund the sport.

I listened to the sports news on the car radio when leaving the course. Nothing at all was mentioned about a triple crown winner :(

You will find that the reason there was nothing on the radio has plenty to do with the timing of the press release after Abashiri's feat.

Something should have been drafted beforehand, quotes slotted in from winning interviews and sent out all over.

Doesn't help sending the word out long after radio and TV stations have ceased their news/sport broadcasts for the day.
