It seems to me that the racing industry feels they are the only industry in the whole who should be void to customer feedback. The punter is the customer technically.
Im sure every jockey trainer owner official etc feel the have a right to complain about government because they pay taxes? In the same way us punter feel we have the right to voice our opinion if we feel it was a kuk ride or whatever because we put our money in the game as much as they do.
No we dont think we can do better then the experts but we feel we have a right to comment on what happens in every race good or bad. If one walks into a restaurant and complains about the food does that mean he or she thinks they are better than the chef? I think not!
Funny how he says horse racing is not even regarded as a sport, if u want horse racing to be regarded as a sport in SA people in horse racing must expect comments and criticism from us clown bloggers just as our sportmen of this country get pounded day in day out!!!
The only reason people comment is because we are passionate about horseracing and we love the game.
Besides 99% of people on here and any other side for racing feel MDK is near immortal and i am one of those. But whether joking or not was a lil taken aback by the comment
As pointed out on another thread, all persons within the industry believe they are the only ones entitled to an opinion......but you can bet, only the relatively smarter ones are at the top of the food chain, in each activity!
We are the biggest stake holders
Most owners are punters
Fact !!!!

As good a trainer as Mr De Kock is, I think he's dismissive tone about 'bloggers' is appalling to say the least.
It is only the passion for the game(or the disease that punting is to many),that keeps the punters coming back for more despite the atrocious manner in which the industry as a whole treats it's customers.
The 'bloggers' are almost certainly all punters, and Mr De Kock's dismissive comments simply sum up this industry's real attitude.

.....I agree wholeheartedly, and MDK as good as he is.... should be thankful that he was in the right place at the right time in his early beginnings in this game....and had the cookie crumbled in a different way.....he would be just like one of us .....

I agree his tone was a bit dismissive of everyone else's opinion other than his own. But the whole industry is a bit like that.
I was interested in his opinions and he does have a good insight into a number of areas.
On one hand he seems to be looking at the big picture and the good of the industry ,while when push comes to shove its self interest all the way. He just came off as being a bit arrogant , which was a shame as most racing enthusiasts, whether they be blogger, punters or not, have great respect for his achievements .

100%.
I'm a great admirer, and what I like about the man is that he speaks his mind, even in the face of the fact that it often goes against the grain.
Are the bloggers not just speaking their minds too?

I have met Mike on a few occasions and he always greets me and a very down to earth man considering what he has achieved.
I am sure he does not come on ABC to check what is being said, I am guessing that he gets a one line negative input on what was said on the site without the many positive posts and remember he also had a go at having a forum and basically took the approach via Charl to hell with all this shit and closed it down.
I have plenty respect for the man and would like to think that he also believes it's a hard project to run a forum and we are probably better at doing this and I am sure its easier than training horses
Good punting

I see that Winning Ways runs tonight at Windsor race 1 with Pat Cosgrave aboard must be worth a punt especially if they have to break away from the show to catch the race, what say James and Paul

You can watch tonight's show, 20/06, on Youtube right now.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
