Maximum weight a 3yo can carry is 57kgs.

When the weights was declared =

Legal Eagle 60kgs was a 120 rating
Abashiri is a 117 rating (3 points difference = 1.5kgs) = 58.5kgs less 2kgs WFA = 56.5kgs

When Legal Eagle got scratched the weight was raised proportionately by 2.5kgs so the top weight carries 60kgs.

Therefore French Navy = 57.5 + 2.5 = 60kgs
Abashiri = 56.5 + 2.5 = 59kgs

naresh let me get this straight if hypothetically legal eagle was not nominated originally and French navy was the topweight would abasiri be carrying 57kg (ie max weight a 3yo can carry)

If so then the way things have turned out with legal eagles scratching it has caused the maximum set weight rule for 3yolds to be overridden !

Confusing and very contradictory circumstances . the way I read the conditions of the race after legal eagles scratching abashiri should have gone to the MAX WEIGHT (57kg's)as stipulated by the race conditions and all the other runners under sufferance to legal eagle be raised accordingly .

This I think would have been the scenario,

Maximum weight Abashiri = 57kgs (117 Merit Rating)
French Navy = 56kgs (115 Merit Rating) 2 points difference but Abashiri needs to get its 2kgs WFA allowance so French Navy goes up to 58kgs.

Then the weights will have been raised proportionately so the top weight carries 60kgs by 2kgs so French Navy goes to 60kgs and Abashiri 59kgs. It would still have been the same as they are now.

In fact French Navy and Abashiri has most runners under sufferance. I might have to eat my words as French Navy is thrown in now and couple months ago I never give it a chance.

For me, in relation to French Navy it is going to depend on how quickly the 3 year olds improve. They are almost 4 and starting to mature now but are still under sufferance with FN.

I think I'm going to row in with FN in the trifecta's but perhaps the 2 lesser known lights out of the 3 year olds in Ten Gun Salute and Mambo Mime.

Of those two, my concern is Mambo Mime might not be quite as effective over the 2200m but TGS is going to love every inch of it!

I like the prices too......

However, I have been in the 2nd through 5th boxes way too often in this race and small interests only for me, the real money comes in the Golden horseshoe for me!!!!

I would be very careful saying who is well in and who isn't as the handicapping rules have changed so much that the hcapers have their hands tied..many of the races now especially the group 2 downwards they aren't allowed to punish any horse bar the winner and that is also capped by 6 points..plenty other limits but I wont go into it..i have contacted the people at computaform to find a column whereby they put what the horse actually ran to so when studying form you have a much better idea of who and how much a horse is well in by or under sufferance ..one only has to look at Saratoga dancers run in the drill of a 95 at wfa he ran 4th but the handicapers couldn't penalise him ... its becoming a nightmare to study form these days especially if you respect and I do the handicapers ratings

When I have gotten on, I would be happy to divulge who I like :P

It should really not be that hard to figure out though!
