I understand the criticism. One trainer employed by GC, one on the board, and one very pro. I would love to get the comments from
M de Kock
S Tarry
G Kotzen
W Marwing
I think a very different picture will emerge.
Two Cape trainers and two very critical viewpoints.
From what I see on the television, Greyville is a disaster.

Lafferty does earn an income from GC and cannot be independent in a meeting representing trainers hosted by GC. Clear conflict of interest...

Joey got the whole context wrong. Tony is in charge of everything at Summerveld and when it comes to the tracks I help Tony out as I am there before anyone else so that is why I work under Tony if you want to put it like that. It was a gesture to say if he had any problem's at Summerveld and Tony could not sort them out like I help Corrine when she has a hassle Pirates, it was just helping out and trying to be nice!!!! I was invited to inspect the track as a committee member and I cancelled an owners lunch to go and see first hand. I get paid nothing to be on the committee and never been paid a cent by GC except for training stakes etc. Now who has what to say???

I say that Tony & Paul should not have attended the meeting regarding the state of the tracks as independent kzn trainers as there is a clear conflict of interest. They both are paid by GC, sure this does not have to be pointed out by anyone Craig. I cannot believe that they did not exclude themselves or explain their capacity at the meeting. If there is a different story then they should publicly state that however all there is currently is the story by GC so those are the facts available. If Tony is the Summerveld Manager then he should not attend any independent trainers meeting and at least change his trainers licence to read GC Trainer.
The above is shocking actually Craig but bear in mind that besides the statement so far by Joey which he was not certain of regarding you there are no other references to you. Anyway, enough of this, have a good weekend and have a cold one, at the Pony, Craig.
PS Legend is running on Sunday Clanners, he is drawn wide but is fit and will go close. Cheers

Craig perhaps we need to take a step back and compare issues. Gold Circle have been struggling with this track for years. Why? There clearly are reasons that are not being divulged seeing that everyone acknowledges the ability of the track manager.
Now the comparing I want you to do is with the UK festivals where the tracks are prepared to perfection for their big days. Imagine just for an instant the thoughts of international punters witnessing the glorious surfaces offered for Ascot, Goodwood, Epsom et al, to the embarrassment of what Greyville has become. The July is in 3 weeks time. The track looks like it has been extensively raced on after a long season, something we all know is not the case. For South Africa's premier race, this is not acceptable. In my very humble opinion.
You will note not one Gold Circle employee was abused in the posting of my thoughts

Some would say that Craig Eudey is not and he and I have no beef at present. But he came up to me last year and shook my hand and told me that he worked “under Tony” – so I can only assume he has a vested interest.
My oh my
If i remember correctly some Donut once forgot to arrange transport for Variety Club and one of the 3 stooges bailed him out

OTA what everybody tends to forget when when comparing venues is that those meetings are held in summer during their growing season. KZN/ GC has their champions season in winter ie the non growing season. How do you expect the tracks to look like Goodwood et al when nothing grows and if it does, at a very slow rate.

Dilligaf I have been punting the July for 40 plus years, one thing that has never changed is that it was always scheduled for the first Saturday in ..... July. That terrible winter you banana boys somehow survive each year never prevented the course manager preparing a magnificent track for the day and to be fair, the season.

Not jumping on any bandwagon here, just an honest question. I have never been to summerveld, so not being sarcastic either. But is summerveld battling with these grass issues?
