O.T.A and Pirates I fully agree with the concerns raised and if this matter has to go forward I have one further comment and that is Why was there 5 poly track races on a 10 race card at the daily news 2000. I mean it is the premier season and all races should be run on turf to encourage trainers and owners to bring their top horses to contest. My opinion is that the poly track caters for the mediocre horses ,no problem with that, but should be run on a different day not on big race days.Have you noticed the top horses in the country are not racing on Poly?

I really have absolutely no idea what so many posters here have got against the poly. The top trainer( and the majority of the rest) in the country like racing on it, and just this morning I was chatting to a top jockey and he said that the grass had improved last night but he really enjoys the polytrack. My mind boggles. I was told confidentially that some of the trainers as dilligaf says, have used the poly as an excuse when their horses didn't run up to expectations when it first came out and now cant go back on their statements without looking like idiots so stick with their story. An interesting look on it.

A trainer told me his horses have a massive advantage over others because he uses the poly to train on more than others..
Craig i don`t think anyone has much against the poly , we know its a surface thats needed, what some are not happy( and remember these guys are trainers and your future owners) with is the current grass surface
Plus the poly has killed the pools imo

from a punting perspective I have zero problems with the poly and iv said that on here several times..from what iv been told you cant just put any horse on it as you must consider its confirmation and action etc...was happy to see last night that the races on grass the horses cantered down to the start on the grass and the races on poly went down on the poly..please this must continue in the future as theres nothing worse when you watching horses display how they moving on the poly and they racing on the grass  craig why don't you tell us who your mate diligaf is or is ok now for people to get personal hiding behind a pseudonym?

just to answer elmo the program on the poly 98 percent of the time caters for your lowly rated horses and your battling 3 and 4 year maidens ..there are one or two listed races on it but the bulk of your 2yo maidens your plate races that cater for your better and progressive horses and your features and higher merit rated races from about a mr 80 upwards are run on grass...so your top horses cant run on there cos there no races for them..if the majority of trainers as craig has said like the poly then this must change surely as at the moment the program is sending out a different signal....

My name is D(illi)oug G(aff)reyling. I do not work in the industry and nor do I know Craig. I only "know" him from his posts here.

The number of "this horse can't lose" type comments I heard whilst working as a tote operator, during my varsity days, would have convinced me to abstain if I was a punter. Fortunately I never was nor will I ever be one. I used to work in the Owners and Trainers facility at Scottsville.
I think some of those "winners" are still trying to find the finishing post
