UK, Ireland & Chantilly Sunday
8 years 11 months ago
R4 Gowran Park Arch Sting. This looks a straight match between the selection and Schubert who will go off favourite but has had a lot of chances, isn't progressing and will represent very poor value. The selection ran well on his reappearance when fifth in a strong maiden at Navan (the third and fourth have both won since) and looks sure to come on for that run. John Oxx has been having a poor season so far, but his luck may be about to change. 3/1 (widely available) or above is a good price in a weak race.

Prix de Diane today at Chantilly and it's a race I'm looking forward too. I make it between four fillies and it's hard to narrow it down; Ballydoyle, La Cressioniere, Swiss Range and Volta.
Volta hacked up about two weeks ago in a gr 2 and was so impressive, remarkable turn of foot. La Cressioniere is a lovely filly, unbeaten, who won the french 1000 guineas for me at 7/1, form is strong as we've seen Qemah who was third come out and win the Coronation at Ascot. Ballydoyle won the Marcel Boussac last season at France and last seen when running second to minding in the 1000 guineas when she had a troubled passage. Swiss Range, who I rate a bit, cruised to victory last time, even song 3rd came out to win the Ribblesdale at Ascot.
As I said, I could easily make a case for any of the four but i'll narrow it down to two.
Ballydoyle - around 3/1 and Swiss Range 6/1

Seeing how the O Brien second strings won at Ascot I wouldn't rule out Coolmore .
Also they would have booked those two names well in advance to keep for what they think are smart horses. Ballydoyle and Coolmore.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy !!!!!!!

Learned a valuable lesson - don't go against horses that made you money. La Cressioniere did it well and remains unbeaten. Her vs Minding will be tasty!
