We all get old , I used to be a no bad 2nd row

I become fat and old and played too long :)

Look at Fallon now , one of the worlds greatest on his day

Now scrambling for rides at Ayr and Catterick because he's either skint or can't let it go

Top jockey who has become a legend with his many title victories in Hong Kong.

13 consecutive titles from 2000/2001 makes him a great S.A. jockey.

Cannot grudge him for the ride many years ago on Oom Nic van Tonder's horse at Gosforth Park.I had a horse from the Azzie stable named Russian Feather as a banker in the last leg of the Pick 6 and was expecting to collect about R25,000-- if it won.

Pierre Strydom was the jockey and the horse had a good turn of foot so when Peter Duffield when into top gear and called '' and Russian Feather finishing best of all " it looked like race over and money in the bag.

No TV coverage those days so commentary was the feed and suddenly Doug Whyte loomed up on the inside of Russian Feather and he drove his mount past Strydom to get up by a neck. Was one of the lows that day as in the 80's that amount of cash was not too shabby.

Follow Dougie with whatever he mounts in the July, he showed his class with a good 2nd on Pierre Jordaan in the July won by Igugu and expect him to be in the finish again.

A fine Durban born jockey, let us give a typical warm Durban welcome back to one of the city's top sons returning home. :)
